They literally danced the night away.”The same band that got the crowd up on its collective feet and kept them there was Atlanta’s top event band, 1st Generation Band.“People keep asking if we are going to have the same band back and we certainly are,” Pickard said. “1st Generation is a 10-piece band and they have a female lead singer. They can play up a storm.”And what’s a Mardi Gras Gala without Cajun cooking. Hoorah! It’s that time of year again. Mardi Gras time!There won’t be a parade, krewes or kings, but the Colley Senior Complex promises that a good time will be had by all at its 2014 Mardi Gras Gala.The annual fundraising event for the Colley Senior Complex is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Cattleman Park. Tickets are on sale at the Colley Senior Complex on Elm Street in Troy. Tables for 10 are $500 and a limited number of individual tickets are available for $40 each.Corporate tables for 10 are $1,200 and include signage on all Gala promotions and Mardi Gras Gala T-shirts. No tickets will be sold at the door. All ticket sales are tax deductible.Chrissie Pinckard, Gala chair, said the attendance at last year’s Gala was 400 and that many and more are expected this year. The photo booth is always a popular place.”The attire for the Mardi Gras Gala can be anything from beads and masks to tuxedos to blue jeans.“You can come anyway you want,” Pinckard said. “It’s come as you are as you want to be. Just come.”The annual Mardi Gras Gala is a fundraising event for the Colley Senior Complex. The funds raised are used to support the 45-plus programs offered at the Complex.“We have more than 1,000 seniors who participate in the programs, trips and other activities and events at the Colley Senior Complex each month,” said Catherine Jordan, Complex director.
