The Consumer Affairs Authority had seized the milk from a company in Kuliyapitiya recently. The National Movement For Consumer Rights Protection has called for a comprehensive probe as some of the milk powder unfit for human consumption is believed to have been distributed to the market. (Colombo Gazette) The National Movement For Consumer Rights Protection said that the company had purchased 200 tonnes of milk powder meant for animal feed from the leading milk powder company.The company has then repacketed the milk to be sold in the market. An investigation has been sought on the sale of milk powder unfit for human consumption.The National Movement For Consumer Rights Protection alleged that a relative of a Minister is believed to be involved in the racket. It was found that the milk powder was meant for animal feed but had been sold using the logo of a leading milk powder company.
